Master Jim Greenwood is the founder and Master instructor for Jim Greenwood’s Karate USA and Master Instructor for Firm Tactical Solutions Kyusho Jutsu and Ryukyu Kempo. Jim also teaches tactical self-defense and is certified as a Defensive Tactical Instructor through Force Options by FO President, Fred Mastison. Jim is also a supporting member and instructor of Kyusho Jutsu and Ryukyu Kempo for Okuden Circle.

Master Greenwood currently teaches at Self-Defense Fitness Systems in Collinsville, IL located in the St Louis metro area. He offers classes to adults and professionals in the LEO and Security field. He teaches Kyusho Jitsu, Ryukyu Kempo, Kempo Jujutsu and Aiki Jujutsu at this location and is available for seminars and clinics. Jim was voted FTS Instructor of the Year, Master Jim Greenwood continues to bring quality training not only to Missouri and Illinois citizens, but all across the United States.

Jim Greenwood started learning martial arts from his father in 1977 at the age of five, in the arts of TaeKwon-do and Jeet Kune Do. Jim started taking formal classes at the age of eight with his father (who was already a green belt) in 1980 under the ATA (American TaeKwonDo Association) with instructor Ed Howell at Olney Central College and Frontier Community College. During this period he won many local, state, and regional sparring tournaments around the area. In 1984 the region was taken over by the UST (United States Taekwondo) which he received his first-degree black belt (1st Dan) under in 1985 at the age of twelve.

In late 1993 he and his father started teaching in Flora IL. During this time his father introduced him to Kempo, which Jim's father started studying under Grand Master D.M. Hurst (8th dan) Presedent of the United States Black Belt Association, and Master Pat McWhorter (6th dan) VP of the USBBA in 1986. Jim started studying with Master Hurst, in 1994 at Sensei Hurst's home in Effingham IL. He received his 2nd degree black belt in TaeKwon-do, and his 1st degree black belt in Kempo Jujutsu, in 1996 under Master Hurst. Sensei Greenwood currently holds a 4th degree black belt master rank in Ryukyu Kempo and Kyusho Jitsu, under Grand Master George Dillman (9th dan) and Grand Master Jim Corn (8th dan), a nidan (2nd degree black belt) in TaeKwon-Do certified by the TaeKwon-Do Chung Do Kwon headquarters in Soul Korea, a Sandan (3rd degree black belt), and menkyo Taishi (expert level teaching license) in Chinese/Okinawan Kempo, and Chinese/Okinawan Kempo Jujutsu under Master Hurst. He also holds a shodan level in Aiki Jujutsu.

Jim was also a private lesson instructor at the USBBA Effingham dojo. In 1997 Jim became the head instructor of the dojo in Flora. In October of 1999 Jim opened his own dojo, Jim Greenwood's Karate USA. Jim is the head instructor, founder, and president of the Karate USA Association (KUA) and founder of The Martial Arts En-Kempo and En-Kempo Jujutsu. He is still working to further his studies in the martial arts to provide the best real combative martial arts he can offer for his family, students, and community.

Jim is doing this with the study of Ryukyu Kempo, and Kyusho Jitsu, with Grand Master Jim Corn 9th Dan and Kempo Jujutsu and Aiki Jujustu under Grand Master Hurst 10th Dan. Master Jim Greenwood is currently a 5th degree black belt under Jim Corn. Master Greenwood is helping spread real combat Martial Arts and pressure point fighting through seminars and clinics that he teaches several times a year. He has also released a DVD with new innovative tactics to help EMS personnel using pressure points for controlling combative patients.

On August 3, 2002 Jim was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year in the Millennium Hotel at St. Louis MO. Also in 2004 Jim was once again inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Master of the Year. Then again in 2007 he was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Kyusho Instructor of the Year.
